Historical Overview/ Introduction

Searching for information:

  • Defining and obtaining information with regard to available resources in accordance with legislation and the law (Data Protection Act, Security of Information).
  • Sources of information including Open Source Intelligence.
  • Using information to conduct and complete enquiries including how best to record and present evidence.

Debtor Tracing / People Tracing:

  • Types and sources of information including paid and free resources.
  • Legal aspects of debtor tracing and licence requirements.
  • Use of deep web search engines, social media, etc.

Conducting Investigations:

  • Viability, legality, consequences and pitfalls of investigations. Client screening.
  • Pre planning: Taking into account budget, resources and legal constraints.
  • Methods of reviewing, updating, reporting and recording.
  • Maintaining security and confidentiality of information.
  • Interviewing, Intelligence gathering, Crime Scene Preservation, DNA/Fingerprint advances, biometrics, CCTV / ANPR, Cross Border Enquiries.

Process Serving:

  • Types of Legal Documents and legal requirements involved in effecting service.
  • Reporting and preparing confirmations of service.
  • Pitfalls and issues, best practice and legal matters.

Surveillance:

  • Allocating resources and employing appropriate, ethical and legally acceptable methods.
  • Conducting static and non static surveillance.
  • Equipment: Camera's, Recorders, trackers. All used in accordance with legal requirements and manufacturers' or suppliers instructions.
  • Online surveillance methodology, covert techniques and best practice.
  • Recording and reporting.

Kevin Regan and his team are drawn from the Private Investigator and Public Investigator Sector. Kevin Regan was featured as one of the principal Private Investigators in the UK by the BBC in 2000, in the: "Ten Thousand Private Eyes", documentary.

Regan has headed up Burton Regan Detective Bureau for over a decade and operates with a simple mantra: "Quality People, Belief, Passion, Expertise and Experience". He carries this concept into the training courses and recently completed his Level 3 Award in Assessing Candidates Using a Range of Methods with: OCR. This qualification is also known as the A1 (NVQ) Assessor Award. To further keep up to date with current education best practice, Kevin Regan also completed his Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) award.
